Abstract:

Consulting Engineering: A Guide for the Engagement of Engineering Services (Manual 45) has provided guidance in contract negotiations and selection of consulting engineers for several decades. In preparation for the latest revision, the ASCE Subcommittee on Manual 45 solicited the widest possible input. The authors represent Federal and local agencies, and consulting engineering firms. Comments from representatives of ASCE who have received comments on the strengths and weaknesses of the Manual are also included. Some specific topics of discussion include client relationships, cost guidelines, definition of services, and compensation.
