Development of Concrete Nuclear Containment (ACI 359) Code Requirements as they Relate to Probability Based Load

by John D. Stevenson, Stevenson & Associates, Cleveland, OH, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Structural Engineering in Nuclear Facilities

Abstract:

The historical development of the load combinations used in concrete containment is presented in the paper. These load combinations are examined and identified in the light of the reasonable, min-max and probabilistic decision processes. Included also is a listing of estimated event and failure probabilities associated with the design of concrete containments.
