Abstract:

Regarding new earth retaining structures (ERS) construction, the message is clear: plan for asset management. New construction is certainly not immune to performance issues, and the time will come when today's new structure components degrade and require repair or rehabilitation. Therefore, it is imperative that ERS asset management programs engage early during the design phase, continue through construction, and become a key component of life cycle maintenance activities.
