Abstract:
Work-related conflicts, according to a body of management consultants called organizational development specialists, are neither bad nor good, but inevitable. Engineers and other scientific or technically trained professionals have more trouble than most dealing with conflict, say some consultants. Why? Reasons vary, some consultants think engineers are paranoid about criticism, so avoid it. Others feel that scientific and technically trained people lack intrapersonal skills. Now, there are workshops to teach professionals how to approach conflicts and use it to improve working conditions.
