Abstract: The imbalance of carbon dioxide emissions caused by human activities makes a huge impact on the world’s climate. Reducing carbon emissions and protecting the Earth’s environment is a common mission for all mankind. Carbon emissions from transport make up a large share of total emissions. This article focuses on the issue of carbon emissions from transport, selects China’s urban passenger transport system to study, and uses the distance-based calculation method. According to the data of a number of institutions at home and abroad, we determine the emission factor. Then, we collect the data of traffic surveys of Huizhou, Dongguan, and Rizhao and calculate the average and total carbon emissions. After analyzing the data, according to the conditions of Chinese traffic and cities, we propose mitigation measures from three fields (the factor of distance, the structure of urban transport, and the urban-scale pattern) to reduce carbon emission levels of transport.
