TCLEE 2009: Lifeline Earthquake Engineering in a Multihazard Environment |
| Abstract: |
Steel-framed houses are usually built of light thin-walled load bearing structures having different solutions for interior and exterior cladding. The main component to provide earthquake performance of a light-guage steel house are the shear panels. The shear panels are discontinued in story levels which are caused complicating their connections of story levels. One of the requirement of shear panels seismic design is TI809-07 2006 of U.S Army Corps.Except for story levels, in TI809-07, it is presented requirements for designing all elements and connections of shear panels. This paper investigates connection between shear panels in story levels and two methods which are developed for seismic enhancement of shear panel details in TI809-07 2006 and earthquake performance and also the modified steel stud wall system is developed and presented. |
