TCLEE 2009: Lifeline Earthquake Engineering in a Multihazard Environment |
| Abstract: |
For almost forty years the engineering community has realized the risk severe earthquakes pose to lifelines, including natural gas infrastructure. During this time numerous guidelines have been written detailing methodologies to mitigate risk to natural gas facilities. However, only since December of 2004 have owners and operators of high pressure "transmission" pipelines been required to address seismic hazards as part of on-going system integrity management programs. |
