Abstract: The purpose of the study is to find engineering measures to wisely save and intensively use the land which occupied by highway construction. Methods of system analysis and documentation were used. The result is that China’s current land utilization rate is not high by comparing with the international situation based on the history and characteristics of China’s highways. The conclusion of the study is that highway construction is a system engineering which contains multi-link and multi-stage. Land use saving is very important in every stage, network planning, route selection, road construction, management and so on. Pay attention to research every technique standard in every stage; make good relationship between the interests of the construction. These countermeasures can be effectively reduce the current pressure on land requisition of highway construction.
