Abstract:

Several different alternatives to mitigate surge activity were investigated. The most acceptable solution was a pair of new breakwaters that altered the basin geometry to change the basin response characteristics. Thus, detailed physical and numerical model studies were conducted to identify the optimum breakwater configuration. This paper focuses on the cross section design, construction methods and construction monitoring.
