Abstract:

The conference, Sand Rights '99: Bringing Back the Beaches, was organized by the Coastal Zone Foundation and the California Shore and Beach Preservation Association. Sand Rights '99 was an opportunity to bring together experts on land use law, coastal processes, and coastal resource management issues from around the world to explore opportunities to maintain and restore coastal beaches. The papers in these proceedings were presented in Ventura, California, September 23-26, 1999, and offer suggestions on integrating legal, regulatory, economic, and engineering approaches to the issue of beach management and enhancement.
