Abstract:

This proceedings, Recent Advances in the Characterization of Transportation Geo-Materials, contains a compendium of papers demonstrating a variety of applications and research studies in the areas of field and laboratory characterization of transportation geomaterials. It includes work by Chen et al., who evaluate various nondestructive testing techniques employed in Texas to determine in situ resilient moduli of base and subgrade materials. Huntington and Ksaibati apply a series of analysis and characterization techniques for studying the field performance of geogrid-reinforced granular bases. Syed et al. describe an investigation technique for characterizing durability of recycled and stabilized pavement geo-materials. Sussmann et al. demonstrate the application and use of a number of field investigation techniques for the characterization of railroad track ballast and subgrade performance. Finally, Seyhan and Tutumluer introduce a new advanced triaxial testing device for characterizing in the laboratory the effects of stress path loadings on unbound granular material behavior.
