Abstract:

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has prepared this Manual, Geophysical Exploration for Engineering and Environmental Investigations, to provide an introduction for the geophysical methods typically used in engineering, geological, and environmental (including hazardous, toxic and radioactive waste) investigations. This Manual furnishes a broad overview of geophysical applications to common engineering, environmental and geological problems. Geophysical methodology is discussed as well as seismic procedures, electrical and electromagnetic methods, gravity techniques, magnetic methods, subsurface geophysical methods, airborne geophysical methods, remote sensing, and engineering vibration investigations. References and a glossary of commonly-used terms are provided.
