Abstract:

Encino, Calif.-based photographer Ken Karagozian was given access to the construction of L.A. Metro's Red Line. Karagozian tries to capture not only the scope of the work being performed but the people who are doing the work on the $5 billion subway system. Most of his photos are taken below ground and include some of the machinery and equipment workers use to create the tunnels. Work on the Vermont/Hollywood part of the subway he photographed is scheduled for completion in December of 1998.
