Abstract:

A physical model and a mathematical model were used to study the flow patterns in a reservoir having a complicated bathymetry. The physical model measurements were compared with the predictions of an uncalibrated two dimensional model RMA-2V, for assumed values of Manning's roughness coefficients and dispersion coefficients. The results were similar, indicating the advanta of using numerical models for the design of diversion structures, especially the run-of-the-river type hydro electric schemes.
