Abstract:

The California Department of Water Resources Delta Simulation Model (DWRDSM) is periodically verified against new hydrodynamics and water quality field data to ensure reliability and identify areas in which the model can be improved. An opportunity for model verification under medium and high flow conditions was provided by dissolved pesticide data collected by the USGS in winter 1993. This paper describes the procedure used to verify the model, and demonstrates the ability of the DWRDSM to provide accurate hydrodynamics and transport information for Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta planning.
