Abstract:

An existing mathematical model to predict trihalomethane formation and speciation was enhanced through the use of artificial neural network technology. The model corresponded well with observed data in a verification test and showed reasonable sensitivity responses under all conditions tested. An application of this enhanced model within a broader simulation framework is presented in a companion paper.
