Abstract:

The Maryland State Highway Administration agreed to accomplish restoration of 1,100 feet of stream channel as part of a mitigation agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, for impacts to waters of the United States under a Section 404 Wetland permit. Restoration was accomplished by restoring stable geometry using vortex rock weirs and root wads. A five year monitoring effort is underway to determine stability and particle size distribution of channel materials.
