Abstract:

Design of bioengineered slope stabilization measures in riverine environments to minimize rates of stream bank erosion requires accounting for hydrologic, hydraulic, geomorphic, geotechnical, vegetative, and construction factors. Due to the complex interaction of these factors, an iterative design process is required. Using a completed project on the Raritan River (New Jersey), this paper describes design guidelines for bioengineered bank stabilization in fluvial systems.
