Abstract:

With its 89.5 route-mile system up and running, the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority (WMATA) is now completing the $640 million Mid-City E Route. The new line presented formidable challenges�like its location in a bustling residential area and its coastal plain subsurface conditions.
