Abstract: Horizontally curved steel box girder bridges are widely applied in urban infrastructural systems for a smooth and comfortable traffic transition. Recently it is found that lateral slipping of girders often occurs under dead load and temperature effect due to unreasonable support setup, especially for the long continuous curved bridge with biaxial sliding bearings. The failure of the bridge results from the endless lateral deviation. This paper uses the incremental launching method to rehabilitate the existing lateral slipping curved girders. Simply mechanical equations and FEM are presented to analyze the vertical and lateral launching process. Field application is also discussed.
