Abstract: In the absence of mitigation measures, the ongoing effort to deepen the navigation channel in Georgia’s Port of Savannah would reduce dissolved oxygen levels in the Savannah River below what is needed to sustain ecological diversity. To prevent this scenario, a series of oxygen-injection cones will be installed in two locations to add 40,000 lb of dissolved oxygen per day to the waterway.
