Abstract: Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater is more than just a new outdoor venue for the downtown of the metropolis dubbed Music City. Constructed on the site of a former waste-burning plant on the river, the stagehouse structure with its sweeping lines both frames the city’s skyline and forms a landmark within a new urban park that has turned a brownfield green and plays a key role in a master plan to improve flood protection.
