The Design of Hail Suppression Operations

Part of: Guidelines for Operational Hail Suppression Programs

Abstract:

When hail suppression operations are being considered, it is already understood that hail damage is a significant problem in an area in which the political subdivision, organization, or other sponsoring entity has interest and/or responsibility. The next step is to determine the scope of the hail problem, the geographic area requiring protection, and the seeding agents and methods to be used. Consideration must also be given to how the project is to be evaluated. Once these tasks are done, the framework of the program can be established and the appropriate daily project designs can be produced. These basics are discussed in this chapter.
