Information on fatigue of wood and on adequacy of design based on present day working stresses with respect to fatigue; working stresses for timber are developed from average test values for clear wood by applying factors for normal variability, indeterminacy of stress analysis, natural strength-reducing characteristics present in structural timbers, and duration of loading.
