Abstract:

Make-up of stable soil structures has been studied by developing working hypothesis; mechanism of shear failure in soils and their response to long-term sustained and repeated loads; phenomenon of step-strain behavior, observed in laboratory, is explained in terms of soil structure; experimental investigation of theory with respect to creep behavior and ultimate strength.
