Abstract: Solution proposed for discharge characteristics, based on simple equation of discharge and experimentally derived coefficients which account for influence of fluid properties and physical characteristics of weir and weir channel; effects of viscosity and surface tension are related to increase in effective head and increase or decrease in effective notch width.
