Abstract:

This Report on Pipeline Location is devoted primarily to suggested procedures related to cross-country pipelines: reconnaissance, location, construction, and as-built records are examined with due attention to right-of way requirements throughout. Special conditions, as for major water or river crossings, marsh and offshore locations, building sites, and microwave communication are treated. Five useful Appendix items are included: a tabulation of maps and information available for planning; an expanded outline specification for aerial photography; a discussion of the possible use of the state plane coordinate system; a model agreement for procuring pipeline location survey services; and a bibliography of pipeline location literature. This report will be of interest to both practicing engineers and researchers working with pipeline location.
