Abstract: Careful study of the use of herbicides for control of aquatic plants indicates that detrimental effects on the environment are short-lived and can be largely avoided by proper selection of herbicide and method of application. Use limitations on many present registrations of herbicides requires that additional research effort is needed to further study the effects of these herbicides on the environment.
