Abstract:

This presentation described in this extended abstract is one of several in a panel discussion entitled Enhanced Research in Masonry. The objectives of the presentation are to discuss the following topics: (1) reasons to study the performance of masonry in disasters; (2) how to organize a performance-oriented disaster investigation program; (3) sample investigations carried out by one such program; (4) some lessons learned from those investigations; and (5) the future of disaster investigation.
