Abstract:

The bus-transit transportation network in Curitiba, Brazil, has received widespread attention for its innovations and effectiveness. This paper looks at those breakthroughs, and considers their applicability to transportation problems in other countries. The paper adds an international overview to the prior presentations by two professionals from Curitiba: Lucas Nieri's presentation on demographics and urban planning, and Carlos Ceneviva's description of the transportation system.
