Abstract:

As the major operator of Beijing conventional surface public transportation, the Beijing Public Transport Group Company, Ltd. (BPTC) provides services not only to the urban and suburban area but also some long distance transport to nearby provinces. Rapid growth in population and private automobile use has worsened the traffic condition in the Beijing region. The general public realizes that public transportation can improve traffic congestion and improve efficiency. The BPTC recognizes the important responsibility it bears for resolving key public transport issues and has strategically prioritized its future activities to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.
