Abstract:

In the last few years engineering firms have stopped seeing information technology as a support system and started looking at it as an opportunity to create new series. Through Web sites, multimedia presentations, automated management processes, and upgraded internal systems, engineering firms have been able to broaden their services and balance workloads between all their offices. Many CEOs have added chief information officers, or comparable positions, to signify information technology's elevated place in the firm's long term plans.
