Abstract:

This workshop proceedings assesses the current level of environmental technologies available in key media and industrial areas and their role in enhancing environmental quality in international marketplaces. It addresses topics such as: 1) Sustainable development and industrial ecology; 2) water and waste at the U.S./Mexico border; 3) earth system science for sustainable development of earth resources; 4) air pollution engineering; 5) integration of biotechnology in remediation and pollution prevention activities; and 6) geo-environmental concerns in North America. Discussions such as these encourage engineers to develop the broadened view of technology, environmental awareness, and a deep commitment to serve society.
