Abstract:

Research has been conducted at the Illinois State Water Survey for the last five to seven years to collect field data from the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers to determine the extent and distributions of these physical changes within such large bodies of water. Field data were collected from more than 250 naturally occurring barge events encompassing all the changes previously mentioned. Some typical results are discussed and presented in this paper.
