Abstract:

In present study of solid-liquid two phase flow, the effect of Basset force on a particle moving unsteadily in a non-uniform flow is not very clear. For this reason, the properties of Basset force are discussed in this paper by use of typical basis functions which are the passible forms of acceleration of particle motion relative to fluids. Analytical results demonstrate that the effects of Basset force should not be neglected generally, but for high frequency impuision component of turbulent flow in which particle is moving, the magnitude of Basset force is very small and negligible.
