Abstract:

This proceedings contains invited and contributed papers for the technical session on Earthquake Design and Performance of Solid Waste Landfills, held at the ASCE Convention in San Diego, California on October 24, 1995. Siesmic response of municipal solid waste landfill facilities has been receiving increased attention. The guidelines of USEPA Subtitle D regulations require safety evaluation of new landfills. This book contains twelve papers. Topics covered include: ground motions for landfill design; seismic response analysis of landfills; dynamic response analysis of geosynthetic systems; dynamic properties of landfill wastes, regulatory guidelines; performance of landfills during recent earthquakes; and future research needs.
