Numerical Modelling and Laboratory Verification for the Turbulent Flow Field in the Branching Channel

Abstract: Adopting the depth-averaged k-ɜ turbulence model and using the finite volume method and SIMPLE procedure, the turbulent flow field in the branching channel is numerically solved and verified for a specific branching case in this paper. Regional Coordinate System(RCS) method is put forward to deal with the irregular boundary. Comparison of the numerical result with experimental data for the specific branching case show that they agree with each other finely. The numerical result reveals the detail of flow characteristic.
