Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Computing in Civil Engineering

Abstract:

Prediction of ground deformations due to excavations is simulated by three dimensional non-linear finite element analyses. It considers various in-situ ground stress levels, excavation sequences, and relative stiffness between the ground and the lining. Deformations at tunnel crown, springline, and invert locations are monitored through the sequential excavation and lining placing cycles.
