Abstract:

A simplified methodology for combining the condition rating of the various elements of bridge components (deck, superstructure or substructure) is developed using a multi-attributive decision making model and the fuzzy set theory. The primary objective is to quantify the uncertainty associated with the bridge inspector's assigned rating. This procedure provides simplicity, consistency and standardization of the bridge condition assessment process.
