Abstract:

Traditional civil engineering follows as segmented process of design then construction. Separating the two provides a system of accountability and creativity. One of the shortfalls with this process is the lack of coordination between the two, which creates problems during the construction phase. These problems are manifested in change orders, time extensions, increased costs, and litigation.
