Conceptual Models of Product, Project and Document Data; Essential Ingredients of CIC

by Bo-Christer Bj?rk, Royal Inst of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Computing in Civil Engineering

Abstract:

A number of current on-going national and international standardization efforts which develop standards for information structures in construction are reviewed in the paper. These concern building classification systems, EDIFACT messages, CAD layers, document metadata and product data models. It is argued that closer cooperation is needed between these efforts, which today use a wide range of modelling techniques for partly overlapping information domains, in order to reach the goals of computer-integrated construction.
