Abstract:

Development in the area of construction robotics/automation would require construction managers to critically evaluate the feasibility of replacing a conventional construction process by a robotics/automated system. This paper presents a conceptual framework for a Decision Support System (DSS) which will assist the construction managers in systematically evaluating the two options, i.e., conventional construction process versus robotics/automated system. The proposed DSS helps the user in the decision making process by taking into account both the quantifiable and the intangible set of criteria and subcriteria involved.
