Abstract:

A two-layer method combining the k-? model with the one-equation model near the wall has been tested in computing the wind conditions around a cubic building. In contrast with the simple k-? model approach, this method has been effective in predicting the flow separation above the roof surface and near the side walls of a cubic building. The numerical prediction of the wind-induced pressures on building surfaces has also been improved as compared with the usual k-? model method.
