Abstract:

In recent years, real-time automated operation and control schemes have been implemented for a number of water supply and distribution systems with varying degrees of success. This paper summarizes many of the existing implementation strategies and highlights the potential areas of concerns. To ensure successful application of real-time technology in the complex water utility operation, an integrated approach embodying the consumer characteristics, the infrastructure changes, and the organization policies is essential.
