Abstract:

A number of Colorado water agencies, school districts, and municipal utilities have combined efforts recently to coordinate a relatively new concept in water education - Children's Water Festivals. The Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District has organized five of these, has participated in at least six others, and is currently coordinating additional festivals throughout its service area in northeastern Colorado. Started as a means to better educate and inform elementary-age children about the importance of water these festivals have done just that. The end result is to have these students become better informed citizens in the future, particularly as they regard water issues.
