Abstract:

Rail service is available at seven North American airports, and service is available by a shuttle bus connection at more than nine other North American airports. Additionally, rail service is being planned, designed, or is under construction at more than 25 other airports. This paper presents a profile of the existing North American airports that have a rail station in the terminal area and the characteristics influencing ridership at these airports. The paper is intended to assist engineers and airport planners who are evaluating new rail services.
