Abstract:

Zhaoqing Gymnasium is a multi-functional sports building, whose structural modelling takes Zhaoqing City Flower(Lotus) as the main theme; adopts a combinatory ellipic paraboloid net-shell roofs. So the entire building structure looks exactly like a lotus flower covering on the ground. This article will summarize the building structural modelling and structural design method; compare the results of model test with that of theoretical calculation; and finally, will demonstrate the performance of the combinatory elliptic paraboloid net-shell roofs and its application in sports building construction.
