Abstract:

Modern design requires more advanced considerations leading to light and safe structures. One of the way to reach this aim is through structural optimization. Today's computational possibilities give us very powerful tools allowing to optimize many types of structures subjected to different types of loading and constraints and with different objective functions. However real structures differ from their design. This is caused by technological tolerance in the process of manufacturing and erection. It is then the aim of the paper to consider the very important relation between an optimum structure and sensitivity of active constraints imposed on state variables.
