It is important for universities to equip college graduates with a strong theoretical background necessary for sound engineering judgement. It is equally important for universities to teach them practical applications. For a veteran engineer, continuing education is essential for sharpening skills, and is becoming a requirement to maintain the professional engineer's license. Communication between educational institutions and design organizations is encouraged to ensure usefulness of the research results.
