Abstract:

Many factors affect the estimation of compressive capacity of a masonry prism. In the study the effects due to grout strength, mortar joints, block geometry and size, moisture content, capping and testing procedures are discussed. the current prism test and all shortcomings in predicting the compressive stress of masonry are addressed.
